Resource Description

The Assessment Viewing Application (AVA) is a component of the Test Delivery System that allows authorized users to view interim assessments for administrative or instructional purposes. The intended purpose of the AVA is to provide Test Administrators:

  • with access to the actual interim assessments before students are tested.

  • a greater understanding of the content being assessed and the time needed for students to complete an interim assessment.

It is important that educators review this entire document prior to using this application.

The Data Entry Interface (DEI) User Guide for the ELPA21 Screener and ELPA Summative assessments will assist users in entering student assessment data such as question responses and scores.

(February 6, 2020: Updated, see revision log on page 3) The GTSA will be used for the administration of the 2019-20 Smarter Balanced, WCAS, and ELPA21 assessments.

This document guides decisions associated with student access to state assessments. The basis of the Guidelines is built upon collaboration amongst multiple states and input from nationally recognized experts on English learners and students with disabilities. The guidelines are research-based and outline three categories of resources—tools, supports, and accommodations. 

Universal Tools are available to all students based on student preference and selection.

Designated Supports are those features that are available for use by any student for whom the need has been indicated by a team of educators with parent/guardian and student input.

Accommodations are available for students for whom there is documentation of the need on an Individualized Education Program (IEP), 504 plan, or other similar learning plans.

(September 30, 2019: New) The Interim Test Administration Manual and TA Script for Student Directions provides information, resources, and recommendations for educator activities for administration of the Smarter Balanced ELA and math interim assessments

This user guide will assist users in navigating the online reporting system for online assessments.

(January 30, 2020: Updated for 2019-20) This document includes information to support professional standards and ethical testing practices including policies, responsibilities, and permissions. It also provides detailed information regarding test security, incident processing and reporting. All staff overseeing WCAP test administration activities are required to read these guidelines.

(August 6, 2019: New for 2019-20) The Student Record Management for Assessment Accountability User Guide details when and how to pre-ID students, TIDE student records, files layouts, and participation attempt codes.

(January 17: New for 2019-20) The Test Coordinators Manual (TCM) is intended to assist in the preparation of the test administration activities and security of our state’s assessments. This manual provides District Assessment Coordinators, School Test Coordinators, and Principals with information on the processes for test administrations, including security, coding, paper-handling requirements at the district and school levels.

The PIRG is a supporting document that is reviewed by all staff overseeing or assisting with state testing.

This user guide is intended to provide specific instruction for navigating the Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE). Details include accessing TIDE, ordering materials, managing users, working with student data, rostering, appeals, test incident codes and uploading files.
